Of course, like the Middle Ages, they rarely live past fifty, without selling their soul to a dark god or being half-elven or something…

Actually, the dead-at-50 thing is something of a myth. Typically, the low average life expectancies in pre-modern times was mostly due to infant deaths and such. Wikipedia suggests that if you reached age 21 in medieval times, you would have a life expectancy in your 60s, and I think for most of history, if you reached at least 30, you had a pretty good chance (barring things like predators or famine) of reaching your 50s, your 60s, and possibly even your 70s. Any rarity of older people was more due to non-age-related attrition than to everyone keeling over at 50.

I may have mentioned this before, and I'm probably an ass for bringing it up again. But I cannot get over how much I scorn alschroder and Red Death's art styles. I'll admit, they're infinatly better artists than I am, I won't pretend my artwork's any better. However, they both come off as hideous to my eyes, Red Death I am less peeved at, because at least I can tell when the character's emotions have changed without having to squint. But despite my naggy, possibly over-critical, whining, this takes absolutely no enjoyment away from this comic! :)
