- Update Sketch: Alec and Tadashi

Hawk on March 5, 2007

I've been a bad author lately. School has kept me really busy, but reading Cheeko's comics has reminded me that no matter how busy you are, your readers deserve a heads-up.

I decided to scan some recent sketches from my sketchbook. I had mentioned earlier that I would be playing with proportions and looks of my characters. Typically that happens in my sketches and it slowly works its way into the comic as I grow more comfortable with it. I hope to reach an art style I like more than the one I'm using now. Hopefully it won't be so easy to tie to manga. No offense to you manga lovers out there… I just need something unique.

At college I've been doing many things. On top of the short animated film my class is making (which is now in crunch time) I've also been updating my demo reel, interviewing with some very high-ups in the industry, putting together a documentary for a different class, plus the duties of several more classes. I just got reminded I'm supposed to be writing a research paper on a southern Baroque artist this week. 18 credits was a mistake. Oh, and I'm filing my taxes.

Rest assured, this can't last forever. I'll crank out another Culture Shock page sometime this week, if only for an escape from my other duties. You're only in college for so long. And my stay is almost over.
