The location of the bullet hole is... dang, not where I called it. Oh well. Would the armor stop the bullet? It all depends on a number of details. Range, caliber, the thickness of the armor... But even so, he's likely not hit lethally. A 9mm round would have great difficulty making it through a sheet of steel, so it wouldn't have much energy left. It may have cracked a rib, but unless the bullet just missed the ribs, it never hit his heart. ... Someone need to call the Mythbusters to settle this debate.

speaking of armor and historical guns. when guns first appeared, they where quite effective against armor, so the blacksmiths upped the ate by making thicker and heavier armor in response to each time the gun got an upgrade. unfortunately, it got to the point that while the knight was entirely protected from bullets, the armor was so heavy that his speed was down to a crawl and he would probably never reach the enemy without entirely exhaust himself. so by that point, they decided to ditch the armor since it didn't offer tactical advantage anymore.

@Hoolo the plot of a Sci Fi original movie was that they created giant spiders to harvest their silk for bulletproof armor (then the antagonist let them loose so he could take them to Iraq or something to sick them on enemy combatants...........which i can't say is the smartest idea as they would likely come after your guys as well, and as it was shown later, bullets work on them just fine)

I agree with dragonestea. Luckily, it was too high to hit the heart. However, if someone doesn't seal the hole fast, his lung will collapse and he'll suffocate. I hope Brooke has CLS training and an IFAK. Or good magic, it works too.

If you want real strong material, take spider's silk. Spider’s silk is 20 times as strong as steel and four times as tough as Kevlar. Not sure if that would stop a bullet, as Kevlar is weaved on top of the other kevlar threads, like those little rings in chain mails, but eh.

Actually, that depends on both bullet and the armor. But it's true that kevlar (used in bulletproof wests) is stronger that steel. Mithril, on the other hand ...

I'm sure that a bullet would go through armour, but shooting the main character at point-blank range would leave burn marks on the armour. Unless it's a PlotArmor. In which case he'll magically be resurrected. Because that's not cliché at all.
