Her tribe was very traditional in the way that they handled relationships and marriage. So chances are, her family probably would have tried to cover it up if she had shown signs of being bisexual. And since she was the daughter of a next in line chief, she would have eventually been wed to a guy that her family arranged and would have become a breeding machine had the destruction not taken place :s.

She may have been bi all along, but maybe she's the product of a homophobic society. Maybe those signals got buried for all those years. I've had friends in RL who took years to come out of the closet, and some who never managed it.
