The education system

So this was sort of a true story, although I obviously did not cuss out a teacher (but had to confront her in a lecture hall after she ignore my email about it).
So it's kind of self-serving to make a comic about it but I think it's something people should be aware of. basically the only part of the experiment they got right was that the moth population distribution changed… but their methods and inferences were otherwise completely wrong. it's frustrating because there are obviously hundreds of other, correct examples of natural selection… but people don't realize the flaws with this one, which leads to creationists having a legitimate point. Which doesn't happen often (oh ho… okay I won't go there. ;D )

I loved learning about that experiment in school, but I never knew that... wow, thanks for the enlightenment :D Oh, and by the way, talking of birds seeing extra, do you know that bees/butterflies/other animals that pollenate flowers can see more of a colour range than we can, and that to them the flowers sparkle. Great comic, really enjoying it. *Faved*

I actually got caught once raising my middle finger by the teacher and I just argued I was checking my nail...I won.

Sadly, many teachers (and soon to be teachers) are actually this lazy/arrogant/whatever... They heard something somewhere, or they were taught it when they were a kid, or "it was in the textbook so it MUST be true"(my personal favorite)... and so therefore they are exempt from ever actually doing any original research to create their lesson plan... grr. I love how this teacher wants to blame the student's differing view on "creationist" websites... kinda driving the point a little hard, don'tcha think? Anyhow, good point ;) (sorry, former education major here! obviously have too much to say! :P)
