Critics Acclaim
I found Sarah to be a very down-to-earth, relatable, and mulch-dimensional person. I can empathize with some of the awkward situations she gets into. I think she is what one can really connect to in terms of the protagonist of a slice-of-life drama.
She's a very good girl, and helps whenever she can, even if she isnt invited to.
She does things that the everyman (or everywoman) would. I think this aspect is almost necessary to the purpose of “Simply Sarah” to create an LGBT story that can be widely related by many different people and not use sexual orientation as a gimmick or a quirk.
It was actually a four way tie for the top nominee between Sarah, Carmen of Death P*rn, Sir Muir from Harkovast, and Protagonist from Persona 4TW.

I didn't expect this one! There's so much of me in Sarah at times that this feels quite personal. In the early days of the comic it felt quite scary putting all my own personal memories of teenage worries, insecurities and emotional stuff into her so publicly, but as readers responded so favourably and I kept seeing comments that said 'me too!' it made me realise that it's really a part of life we all go through regardless of gender or background. Reading that last line of the comment box it seems the other nominees were just as deserving so Sarah only just scraped home with this one anyway. Thankyou.

Congratulations Sarah! You totally deserved that (as did your character). Nice of the judges, too, it's true that the LGBT themes aren't just gimmicks. Applauds for the nominees too, sounds like everyone deserved to be in this category.
