Hephaestus's parents are siblings, his grandparents (only one set of those) are also siblings, and his great grandparents (again, only one set of those) are mother and son... Greek God Genealogy (GGG) is all kinds of messed up. It's practically a wonder that Hephaestus married outside of his direct family (depending on how you look at Aphrodite's origin of course)

Sexual freedom was MUCH greater in the past then it is today. Its like the idea of acceptance has gone in reverse if you think about it.
