Commentary: When I started recruiting characters for HU:EGO, BlueBeacon posted a loose design sketch of this character in the forums, and I immediately took to the idea of a superhero/classic adventure genre-mix. Despite looking good in its own right, I felt the final design neglected the adventure aspect in favor of the Green-Lantern-ish elements, so I redesigned him to fit the original image I had had in my mind. And I just LOVE Tempest_Lavalle's rendition of the Blue Beacon.
I'll get into his motivational background (and the significance of his dialogue on this page) a bit later. Wouldn't wanna spoil the story :3

Very good. Like how everything's set out here. Great art on Phsyco and Blue Beacon. You got a big thumbs up for this one! Think this could very well be one of the best HU's yet...and not just because The Flea is in it (j/k)

thrugar: The idea is that he's making himself as unavailable as possible (retiring his communicator, being cut off from the world in this monastery), but he's NOT strictly retiring from his powers. His powers, this suit and the monastery are connected (meaning he wouldn't be at the monastery if not for his powers - it's a bit like Luke going to Dagobah). I would have had to go into his backstory to explain that, and I found that a bit inefficient, considering it only explains this detail of why he's still wearing the suit. But of course you're right - without my giving this additional information your question is very well justified.

If he had truly retired, left, ect.. why is he still in costume? If your going to do that you need to put all that stuff away in a nice safe glass box and put a little hammer next to it with a sign saying "break only in case of emergency"

The "low angle" perspective in panel two is very well done! I wasn't a fan of Blue Beacon's design, but I gotta admit, after seeing it here, it's growing on me!

Very cool! Reminds me of the Hero Turtles last movie (the CGI one) where Raph went away to find his inner peace, too. Beautiful art, btw :) The greass looks amazing!
