Lemniskate: This was primarily an aesthetic decision, but I expect religions a thousand years in the future to have intermingled in some way. I have hinted at the fact that the majority of earth's survivors was from India and south-east Asia, and I've used a lot of Indian references. But I imagine the cross to have survived as a symbol of death, and not just as a strictly Christian symbol.
