Doing these panels in a darkened office in the wee hours of the morning sometimes they come out better than I think and others not so good. The concept is usually there in the script, or at least this time as I went over it again and again. I finally broke this fight scene down into individual actions to try to make sense of it. What I had originally wirtten only made sense when I actually wrote it. After that it just looked like a block of text.
And then I realized that I had a couple of blood beasts die twice and skipped over one character getting attacked and just having him reappear transformed. Also originally Montinez transformed. However after revamping the ending there was a need for another survivor. The story seemed to write itself to allow for that even though that was not how it was originally planned.

A childhood spent watching anime? Wonder what was on during that time.

The character was inspired by the protagonist in Gate. Talented special forces who is an Otaku.

I love panel four!

That's the great thing about Blood Beasts...they can follow only some laws of Nature and ignore others!

The slice n' dice panel is awesome! I don't care if it doesn't make sense! You could kill the same blood beast five times for all I care. In fact, you could do it intentionally as a gag, and have one of the characters reference it at some point.

I know where you're coming from about 'stories writing themselves'. Sometimes when I start a scene just morphs into something I hadn't planned. So he got the sword skillz from Anime - hehe I instantly thought of Michone from 'Walking Dead'

It's all or nothing at this point. Working in darkened offices is the norm for me. Interstellar Blood Beasts has been a great ride so far.
