36. At the Door

You know…it's funny, when I originally drew the red creature, my first impression was that he COULD be Jix's brother. I was all set up to make that sudden twist and then sometime over the course of this day, I decided to make Jix a girl and the little sister of the red creature.

If you go back and look at the art after reading this, you'll notice I unintentionally made Jix look more feminine in today's comic. I had decided to make Jix this way long before I drew it.

So how could Jix not know she was a girl? Well…you have to remember that Jix remembers very little of her life before a certain time. She doesn't remember her own biology and her voice is high pitched since she's that small. There's nothing about her that can really give her away either way. And Lauren hasn't exactly looked herself or taken Jix to a vet. Can't really take a creature like her to the vet…or doctor's office or whatever.

I'd also like to point out that two of the people that I talk to who read this strip, I was trying my best not to call Jix a “her.” I think I went as far as to not even mention Jix, except that there would be more about the red creature.

I didn't really know what to call this comic when I made it. I was looking for something that wouldn't give away the fifth panel. I had wanted to use “Little Sister” but I decided against it.

Also, I decided I didn't like white as a border anymore and I couldn't use black because Dragon City has black, so I decided dark blue looks good on it. There's nothing special about this one since it has a different color…unless you mean the overall SHOCK of what we find out in this comic.

Well…anyway…enjoy.
