edorfaus: Yes, I am aware that using singularities on planet causes significant colateral damage. Also note that the Hawking radiation only leads to evaporation for black holes IN VACUUM. On the other hand, device capable of creating singularities may also be capable of deconstructing or moving them. Alternatively, you may create a small singularity under your target moving upwards fast enough it will leave planet by inertia ... it will still suck lot of air but probably not enough to destroy whole planet.

hkmaly: One thing to remember about singularities (aka black holes), especially small ones, is that they evaporate due to Hawking radiation. Even if you could create one wherever you wanted though, you *really* don't want to make any inside your atmosphere (gets windy), or anywhere near your planet for that matter - I imagine the gravitational effects would probably break the planet apart, even if you manage to get rid of it before it eats the entire planet. However, in a spaceship, far from any planet, it makes far more sense. Like I've read in a story I like - as soon as you can reliably control the creation of small singularities in an area around you, you not only have a formidable weapon (create one inside the enemy spaceship - blink, and the ship's gone), you also have a really powerful engine (create one right in front of you, just small enough to evaporate before you get there, then another a bit further in front of you, etc - the gravity will pull you forward).

InsolentOne: Speaking about gravitation ... are some singularity-based weapons in that stockpille Sally brought? Never underestimate physics. Very few monsters survive being compressed to size smaller that flu virus, and even if they DO, they would still be traped in place they can't leave unless able to move faster that light.
