Why do i get the feeling that the soul in the armor IS the guy supposedly wearing it?

I feel so bad for asking, yet what if steve kills the guy in armor, the armor has a woman's soul and the first thing that the guy wearing the armor tells her is: ''well, I've been inside you for quite a while...'' just feels like something for in this comic though :p
