Rich T.Hall, the comedian, is from one of the big open states in the N.W. of the U.S. (I forget which) and reckons a cop will often stop you on an empty hiway, just for a chat.

I live in Virginia on the east coast where it's more crowded. So I don't have to go real far to get to things. But you are right as you go west things can get empty & you have to go hundreds of miles to get from city to city.

I would....if it was Sydney, or even a 1200km(1125m), if it was Cairns. But NOT another one out to Arse-end-of-beyond central Queensland, where we went to see my daughter who's been teaching out there for 2 years, but is moving 'back' to a mere 2.5 hours away, this week! B-) - anyway, I thought you Americans were always driving big distances, like Ozzies !
