Comic Strip #1

The “Troubled Cousin from Back East” bit, is an old Hollywood TV show trick, dating back to the 1960s. When a Family Oriented TV show with kids in the principle cast was on the air long enough for the child actors to grow older, it was not uncommon for these child actors to reach the point where they weren't cute anymore. But, these kids had contracts, and thus, they could not be written off the show.
Many of these programs were set on the West Coast. So, the solution was to write a teen aged “Troubled Cousin from Back East” into the cast in later Seasons. They would move in with the principle cast and, under ideal conditions, the show would continue, in Ship-Shape and Bristol Fashion. Some of these excursions worked better than others. But the “Troubled Cousin from Back East” has been a Television Institution ever since.
I borrowed the concept and made it part of my own Comic Strip. The “Back East” element will play a role from time to time in my pages.
Stay Tooned :)
