I wish you really could transfer Pokemon from second gen to third.
Not only would it be convenient, it would bridge the only gap that prevents you from hypothetically transferring the same Pokemon through all five generations. You could catch a Mewtwo in Yellow, trade it through the Time Capsule to Silver, shoot it to Emerald, send it through Pal Park to Pearl, and then use PokeTransfer to bring it onto Black.
