736. Rise of the Dark MacGuffin

Bumblebee is pretty much saying what I feel about the game. To say I was disappointed with the game would imply that I thought it might be any good. Yes, I wanted a third Cybertron game, but when I heard about Rise of the Dark Spark “connecting” with Bayformers, I knew it was going to be bad.
And I was partially right. I liked part of the game. The Cybertron parts, despite having some issues (being unfinished, having a basic story, some issues with the combat), was still pretty entertaining.
The Bayformers parts? They were boring and felt shoved in there. The connection between the Cybertron universe and the Bayformers universe was too forced. The magical MacGuffin did it. Boo.
Well, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions used something similar, but did a MUCH better job with it. Yes, they also use a MacGuffin to connect universes, but they go about it in a better way.
On top of that, all the Decepticon enemies (the ones that don't have names and individual characteristics) said the same 4-5 lines over and over again. It was tormenting that they couldn't say anything else.
The only real bright spot to the Bayformers segment would be the Grimlock segment and even that wasn't that great. Much like the Fall of Cybertron Grimlock, it's fun, but most you get a choice as to when to transform into the T.Rex, taking away it being a treat and just making it an alt mode. Nothing special. And a good chunk of Grimlock's time is stuck to protecting Optimus while waves of baddies swarm you. So…yeah…even the good part of that was crappy.
I know movie tie-ins USUALLY suck (save for a couple of Spider-Man games and some others), but this dragged down what could've been a decent midquel game.
