OK, so some idiot posting under a FAKE name did a review of our comic, and he spent the whole time giving us crap because he's not into gaming comics. I don't know why this guy doesn't have anything better to do with his time than hate on perfectly good comics, but I looked through some of the other stuff on his blog and it seems like everything he reviews is 99.9% better than most of the crap out there.

What I really love about people saying Ted David and the other YWiB bloggers are "elitist pricks" is that they point out the same flaws in the other comics that you're complaining about this one for having. Saying that it's perfectly acceptable for those well-known comics to get away with those problems just because they are well-known is what's really elitist.

Emmzee, there are two problems with that: 1) apparently, early on someone asked the author if this comic was a joke, and the reply was no, so that's what it'd be reasonable for us all to assume, and, 2) regardless, some people actually seem to like it. While it's possible that someone was lying when it comes to the first point, the second point is enough for me to lose hope in humanity (and still come around to read the comments to see what the chances are of getting that hope back), regardless of what the actual comic is all about - I stopping caring whether this is intentionally bad or not long ago.

THIS COMIC IS A JOKE. Seriously. On Facepunch, they found out it started as an in-joke between members of some forum about who could make the worst copy-and-paste gaming comic. One member in particular ran with the idea and hosts it on DrunkDuck. Don't view this comic; it's intentionally bad.

I should point out that the review of Powerup on badwebcomics was posted April 1, and the latter couple of paragraphs of the review clearly seems like an April Fool's. Apparently the "fans" of Powerup, plus its "author", fell for it. Well, I wouldn't expect more of them... However, there's still no way this comic could possibly be called "perfectly good", or anything close to it...

Ted David is completely and absolutely right in everything he's said about you. You guys are the left over rats scraping up what they can from what used to be the gaming comics scene, none of your arguments are justified (Yea, ShadowGamer is clearly your real name) and your comic is effortless junk. Ted David is the best thing thats ever happened to you because you're actually getting some views now.
