Chaos was still in the liquid state when he infused with Metal Sonic's dark energy ball. But now Dark Chaos is stronger than his normal self. He cannot transform, he can roar now, and he can shoot electricity. He also inherited some other traits from Metal Sonic, as they will be revealed later.
