Shades of Simply Sarah (Page 1 of 2)
DAJB on Aug. 31, 2010
The young lady visiting Stan on this page is Leo, a wannabe rock chick from one of my favourite DD comics, Simply Sarah by Skyangel. It's not a comic to read if you're looking for Shades-style superheroics but, if you just enjoy a well-told story with engaging characters, then you really ought to be following this one. You can read a full review in my blog.
Skyangel recently asked her readers to design a stage outfit for one of Leo's upcoming gigs. Not being an artist, I wasn't able to submit a design but I thought maybe Leo could benefit from visiting a professional tailor. You know … like Stan!
I'll be posting Page 2 of this encounter tomorrow. In the meantime, if you want to see it before then, visit Simply Sarah where Sky will be posting both pages today. Oh, and while you're there, give yourself a real treat and read the archives!

Thip: Hopefully, when my faculties do start to desert me, the sense of humour will be the last thing to go! ;-)

Jerrie: It's been said before, so it must be true! Stan's name is a nod to the Great Man (more on that here), but Harsho (the first artist to work on Shades) assures me that any physical resemblance is entirely coincidental! Ghost: Thanks! Lem: Recycling is the hip eco-friendly thing to do, right? Another five years of global warming propaganda and the government will have everyone recycling their comic pages! Coyote: Get back to Company B, you Boogie-Woogie Bugle-Boy, you! ;-) UsedBooks: I know what you mean. Simply Sarah fits into a lot of genres I don't usually have much time for (romance, slice of life, gay etc). But when a comic is drawn and written as well as this is, however, I think it can appeal to an audience beyond the usual genre limitations. Well, it can appeal to me anyway!

y'know...stan resembles stan lee a little bit

Hehe. It never ceases to amaze me how clever you repurpose your pages. I once read the archive of Simply Sarah, but couldn't keep track on an updating basis.

Hey, the Andrews sisters are hip in my book no matter what decade it is.

I don't get into slice-of-life stuff, but when I read through Simply Sarah for judging last year, I did find it visually appealing and well-written. :) Definitely a good read for anyone into that genre. Cute homage too, DAJB.
