What is this I don't even– Thank you for the feature and all the nice comments, everyone! This is so awesome! I logged on and saw Ten's face plastered up on the front page and started having breathing problems of joy. XD
Perfect timing too, because I've been looking forward to doing this particular story arc for YEARS! Things are going to get really interesting in the next few pages. >:D
Hi, I'm a relatively new reader though I may have seen the comic around and just never gotten around to reading it till last week ala caffeine fueled all night readathon followed by a week long coma :/. and I gotta say it's the most awesome comic I've seen yet. well done. ^.^
I tried posting this earlier, but DD decided to log me out and eat my post instead... Let's see if it shows up this time.
@ geneseepaws - I forgot to include this in the other response: I'll get around to telling the story behind Jael's disappearance, but not anytime soon (I'm waiting for years 2 and 3 for that.) Trust me, you're probably happier not knowing.
And yeah... Jovi seems to have the most votes now, but I've already gotten the Kiva arc going, so Jovi's going to get the consolation prize of getting his arc done second.
@ schubacca - Wow! Crazy attention to detail! I'm impressed. I think you've picked up on every little hint I've given about the disease so far. (There's still more to come.)
O I totally agree and probably should of touched on the obvious deeper meanings and implications of said hallucinations, of which I am waiting very impatiently for more details on. I can't seem to find it now, but there was something in his letters home that made me think that his sister had gone through smiler which was why I connected it to his condition.
@ geneseepaws - Very interesting theory! And in some ways you've got it exactly right. I'm not going to tell you WHICH ways (that would ruin the fun) but good job all the same!
As far as Jovi goes, we did find out a bit about where he's from waaay back on page 45, but I can go more into his past later if there's interest in that. And Jovi's pretty smart, but his coursework is quite difficult and there's a LOT of it. Burnout always makes things harder than they should be.
@ Araya - Thank you so much! I'm glad my jumbled, jumpy way of storytelling makes sense to someone other than me, haha!
Sorry this got posted on the wrong page. Sorr.
I don't agree that the hallucinations are part of the disease, not without more direct information about it. Given the information alluded to in one of the composite panels, and some info in the letter home, I would conjecture that Ten has repressed memories, and it is his history that is the dark-cloud following him. I also noticed a wolf shape that equally seems to be protecting him as he sleeps, balancing the weight of evil that the whispering cloud presents. Just IMAO, but until I can find allusion, inference, or implication, I'm going with the past-history-tragedy Theory, until better informed. Can we have a comment from the Author?
Hello. I am a new reader, fresh out of the archives. I just wanted to say... you are an excellent story teller. The panels are like windows, and your characters are PEOPLE, not just plot devices or attention grabbers. I like ho you simply let the time pass so naturally, keeping the more complicated matters more detailed, as would occur in memories. It is... one of the better worlds I have stumbled upon. Ok, I've said my piece, and now I'm getting off the soapbox for good. (here at least...) So, thank you, storyteller.
Stridor's syndrome from what i picked up so far seems to be an inherited gene disorder, not dissimilar to albinism, that produces an inability to properly tan, which seems important to them and may be directly related to the companion symptoms of smaller size and strength and high bruise-ability, increased heart concerns (though that may just be result of increased efforts due to reduced personal size) and a late onset hallucinations.
@ Rinthia - Yes, the lockers are unisex. Most things are with them, actually.
@ freefall drift - Ten's referencing the previous page where his mandatory checkups got quadrupled. Ten = not a fan of doctor visits.
@ Squishy Frog - Don't worry. Stridor's syndrome (along with a few other things) will be explained soon. Very soon.
And thanks again for all the support, guys! Warm fuzzies all around! :D
First of all I want t say congrats on the feature. It's been a long time coming.
Second, I have a question. What exactly does the striders disease mean? I totally understand, if it's still secret, because it seem integral part of the story, but if you can give any hints...
I definitely haven't commented as much as I should have, but it's so awesome that you've been featured. :D
I can't wait for this story to unfold more!
I really like Ten in the 5th panel, he just looks really cool. :P
