I actually use GIMP, which has little to nothing when it comes to text. In fact, I do my comics in MSPaint beforehand, then finish all the itty bitty details in GIMP. Also, I like having my logo on every comic. =3
Two other good rules about sprite comics, don't mix bits like that (Your using 32 with 16?) and don't make the word bubbles look so... MSpainty...
Feh, I know my comic does the whole MSpaint thing with the text, but I don't have photoshop. You seem good at the program, so I'm sure with little effort, you could fix these problems.

And considering you obviously have Photoshop or something like it, you really shouldn't resort to recolors. It's not like sprite editing is hard.
