Huh ... I'd never heard that one, Owl. A dog with a torch in it's mouth could get burned, which would be pretty bad luck. If the dog dropped the torch or got close to something flammable, that could be bad luck for a lot of people. On the other hand, if you happened to be trapped in a dark place and couldn't find your way out, having a dog with a torch wander over to you could be a pretty good piece of luck. And ... ummmm ... I seem to be rambling, so I guess I'll stop here. :)

I remember a similarly premissed folk tale. "Know through the blazing torch in the dog's mouth. You'll get lots of luck!"
