While the starving masses of the late 21st century (commonly referred to as “The Shortage”) are history, much food – particularly in less prosperous areas – is still vat-grown or processed from genetically engineered algae: nutritionally viable, but with a tendency towards the mealy and bland. This probably explains Travis's enthusiasm for the Grill's homegrown fare. On the other hand, he could just really like carrots.
