Early Concept-Harahel Stage 2

lizinverse on Jan. 19, 2014

I posted this as a filler piece on Thanksgiving, but I figured I'd shift it over here to be stored properly.

This is an early design for the character that became Harahel. This is actually my second revision of a character I'd put in the dusty recesses of my art bin, that was created almost…….ugh, too long ago. >.>;; I think I was in 6th or 7th grade, and I was freshly introduced to comic books and the X-Men cartoon, so like many kids, I spent my days coming up with superheros that never really saw much action aside from a doodle here or there and a passing brainshower on what their history was. Maybe one day I'll find one of my art pieces from that time and plaster it up here so the full (horror) evolution of both my art and the character can be seen. XD

In any case, Harahel, or as named before the Pita world came into being, Maryanne, was pretty much a copy of the X-Man Archangel/Angel, with metal wings and stuff. As you can see with second revision, I replaced those with something a little more unique. I originally had created her to be a man-made angel, which became a Golem/Homunculus in revision 2's design, before removing her gender and just making her a flat out angel in the Pitaverse. To honor the memory of Harahel's original version, I came up with Harahel taking a female child's form that would be named Maryanne.
Since Jinx is no longer a child in the story, Maryanne is also taking that spot in the cast volume, as Taro's son is too young to interact with the other characters.

I don't know if it's commendable or not, but a lot of characters I created back in the early days of my innocent youth have had the dust blown off of them and have been refurbished for the Pitaverse.
