Hayate recognised the girl in the picture and refers to her as the girl with the hair of fire, why? I'll explain this later after the next page (the last of this extra chapter) is uploaded.
Well, as you may already see (reading from the right), the text translates as “Hitomi, I like you a lot” instead of Hitomi, I love you. The Japanese don't say “I love you” as often as people in the west do, mainly because of cultural differences.
The Japanese generally don't express their love openly. They believe that love can be expressed by manners. When they put their feelings into words, it is preferred to use the phrase “suki desu”, it literally means “to like”. If you like somebody or something very much, “dai” (literally means, big) can be added as the prefix, and you can say “daisuki desu”

Interesting trivia about love in Japan. I remember reading about one romantic novel where the last line of dialogue was "I love you" but in japanese version they changed it to "What a beautifull moon tonight"

Of course. Different languages work differently, so the translation allways needs good interpretation of the original.

It's correct, as in many translations you need to fit the text and dialogues into the language context. I publish my manga in Spanish (only called "Gloom") and I had to change some of the original texts to fit in English. :D

She must be a red head ;) Better not upset her. I dont quite understand what you mean by expressing love in manners? So if I liked a girl in Japan it would be inappropriate for me to walk up and hug her or give her a kiss? How would I approach a girl in Japan if I liked her and I wanted her to know it?

They consider many things that are "normal" for us (at least in America) like a taboo. In Japan, the first date is like a child's game, there are no public displays of affection and no overt physical or verbal displays of desire. So, you have to work a lot (and may take a few dates) to give her a kiss :D

Very nice!! Incredible art again, and I love the look in Kokoro's eyes! Ya know, I kinda like how the Japanese convey their affection!! I think we American are way too quick and free when 'declaring our love'!!

Thanks! Yeah, we tend to say it almost in the first date or even before it XD, but for the Japanese it's like a ritual :D
