Kimber Lee sure is talking strange, eh… Maybe she just watched ‘Lucy’ and is trying to emulate Scarlett Johannsen at 60% Brain Capacity (was a bit disappointed that the movie actually used the 10% brain-usage trope, which has been debunked, but that's another story…)
.
I actually did some research for this page: how much force is required to break a shotgun? how deadly is a bullet to the gut? I know Kimber Lee can swallow bullets and bench press buicks but we gotta keep this realistic haha…!
.
I might have a little delay in getting the next few pages out. I've volunteered some ‘extra duty’ for this site that will be a bit time consuming. Hey, site lets me host for free - only fair to give back when we can!
.
Thanks for reading, and a big thanks again to everyone who voted for this comic! You made my day (week, month…?)!

The chemistry between Kimber and the guy is exciting. I'm so ready for a romance between the two.

@LadyLestat101: Hey Lady - thank you so much!! :D
LadyLestat101 at 6:31AM, Aug. 17, 2014
Wow... Your art is breathtaking.
KimLuster at 1:33PM, Aug. 15, 2014
@Peipei: Ya, she's grown powerful and seems to realize it... What are the limits is the question!
KimLuster at 1:31PM, Aug. 15, 2014
@PaulEberhartd: Well... A guy I know (who owns several) said running over a Shotgun with a car (providing it was at the right angle and on the right type of fulcrum) would likely do it... But he wouldn't offer up any of his to test with so... I dunno how 'realistic' it is - let's just say it's 'movie physics' haha :)
Peipei at 12:37PM, Aug. 15, 2014
Oh boy, Kim is really exercising her power in this scene. And oh man, Soccoro's situation looks pretty grave, I sorta had a feeling she wouldn't make it out of this alive...
PaulEberhardt at 12:22PM, Aug. 15, 2014
I think it's a great page nevertheless. I like the way you use this rhomboid layout to bring in some extra dynamics.
PaulEberhardt at 12:19PM, Aug. 15, 2014
Shotguns are really solid things, even if they're old. The one thing I've known to break is the shoulder stock, and it needs a lot of force to do so. (I know this because a hunting pal of mine had an accident trying to jump over a ditch.) I'm sorry to say, though, that the boxlock almost certainly won't break the way it's seen here - firing a shotgun cartridge brings the steel close to its breaking point each time, so these things are made to last.

@Call Me Tom: lol I really appreciate your effort... Thank You! - I know I can be very wordy, making it not an easy thing to jump into!
Call Me Tom at 11:39AM, Aug. 15, 2014
Okay its taken me three days but I'm finally up to date with this comic!
KimLuster at 11:09AM, Aug. 15, 2014
@Banes: Yeah, it was actually difficult to draw... Can this 'new' Kimber do something? Will she? Gimme about five days ;) This is the second you've mentioned 'Hanna' - I gotta see that!
Banes at 9:58AM, Aug. 15, 2014
My God, that last panel is heartbreaking to see...but can this new Kimber Entity do something for her? I haven't seen Lucy, but I really liked "Hanna", which has lots of differences, but I think is the same genre as The Godstrain. Those connections excite me. XD

@Bravo: I used to speak Spanish very well, but people always said I sounded 'stiff and proper' when speaking, due to the fact that I obeyed all the rules: very little slang, no use of contractions, no mangling of words (english example: I'm gonna = I am going to). Am I making a comparison here...? Maybe... And yeah, correct pressure applied probably would have worked - a gut shot that doesn't bleed out but hits the right stuff can still kill you due to internal poisoning but it's not instant.

@FC: Well Thank You! 'Lucy' is getting ripped in the reviews, but I liked it okay. Perhaps largely because I was interested in the premise (woman get undergoes something traumatic, strange abilities get awakened, and then she has to deal with the real world). If they had tackled a different science angle than the tired "what would happen if we could use all our brain potential" I think the movie would be better received.
KimLuster at 9:37AM, Aug. 15, 2014
@plymayer: Indeed, but maybe a surprise is in order...
bravo1102 at 8:36AM, Aug. 15, 2014
Flashback to that 19th Century literature course? And that last panel is breathtakingly spectacular!! You didn't apply enough direct pressure. She'd still be alive if you'd applied enough pressure. Watch more war movies.
fallopiancrusader at 7:14AM, Aug. 15, 2014
Good job making Kimber's dialogue sound really otherworldly. Given all the things that the entity can do, I'm not sure I'm ready to write Socorro off yet. I've been on the fence about seeing "Lucy". Luc Besson certainly can be hit-or-miss. "La femme Nikita" (the original)was great, but "The fifth Element" was a real stinkeroo...
plymayer at 6:43AM, Aug. 15, 2014
A turn for the worse but not for long. Sadly, a sacrifice.
