I know many thought Kimber Lee's face should be cut up good but she's pretty tough (superhumanly so) and has been hurt badly many times already (even shot) and recovered with none the worse for wear each time. She can be hurt, but it takes ALOT!
.
So… the Big Guy, Subject One, is Eli Hoff…!
.
Eli is very important to this story so I think I need to present a synopsis (for those who haven't been able to trudge through all my backlog, or forgot some of it (two years is a long time…)). Feel free to skip all this if you like…
.
Eli is Kimber Lee's uncle on her Mother's side. He used to teach her music when she was a little girl, and… apparently he did a bit more to her as well… Super-nice guy on the outside - devil incarnate inside (such people, sadly, are not uncommon enough)…
.
Kimber Lee came to believe that suppressed memories of what Eli did to her may have been the root of the cancer-like symptoms we see at the beginning of this story. Her dream powers, being so strong, turned her memories, her mental cancer, into a physical cancer.
.
So what the frag is he doing here, mutated into a human Mighty Joe Young (hey I liked that movie), captured, and unconcious? The pages outlined below may give some clues, esp. the last pages mentioned! (see I told you I have this entire story mapped out :)
.
pgs 19-22: We first encounter Eli during Kimber Lee's first dream-therapy session.
.
pgs 46-48: Kimber Lee begins to think that memories of Eli may have caused the drastic affects on her body, and that killing the dream representation of him is necessary for her healing
.
pgs 62-72: Kimber tries (and fails) to track down and kill Eli during what she thought was her second dream therapy session
.
pgs 81-82: Kimber Lee (thinking she's still dreaming) explains to Dr. Trager and company why she's trying to kill Eli (thinking he's a dream-symbol of her cancer).
.
pgs 96-108: Kimber Lee discovers that Jack Caleb kidnapped Eli. Thinking she's still dreaming, she tries to kill Eli. A firefight occurs, and a stray bullets hit Eli, seemingly killing him. Kimber Lee appears to ‘infect’ Eli's dead body with the Godstrain (pg 105) and he comes back to life… sort of (pg 108). And that's the last we see of him until now. Apparently he changed, a LOT, in the intervening time…
.
And now, Kimber Lee no longer believes she's dreaming, that all this reality-bending stuff is truly happening, and now she meets up with her child nightmare, mutated into a monster, once more, here in the desert facility (like we see in the movies…). How? Lots of revelations and… stuff… coming in chapter 10
.
Finally, I normally am really humble, but my next chapter header image kicks all sorts of A$$…!!!
.
