So if you ever get in a debate with a being claiming omniscience, you know what to ask them!
When an alien intelligence, unused to human social interaction, tries to backtrack, it can be a little clumsy…
What is consciousness? What is will? This stuff is still being debated… Many (most?) people that don't believe in anything supernatural (gods, souls…) , when pressed, don't believe we really have a free will. Notables such as Stephen Hawking and Sam Harris say we don't (and Sam Harris insists you use your non-will to reject religion…;))
It's a subject I've tossed over and over in my head for years, but one thing I'm certain of… like Descartes, I'm certain there's something in there doing the tossing… And the Godstrain wants it!!!!
I rushed this page (been judging and making presentations, plus a week long trip to beach…), so my apologies if it looks a little kludgy (well more than usual ;))
I've was elated by the huge number of hits my comic is getting lately, but then I realized it's likely other judges looking through my last years worth of pages… I'll wait till after the awards to see if this giant spike is real!! :D
But whether it's for judging or pleasure (both?), thanks for reading!!

@Ghosty: oh yeah!!

even the bad dreams

@Peipei: Like Achilles said in the movie Troy, (paraphrased) "The Gods envy us for our mortality - because only with a finite life do things like love, glory, etc, have value." I see that... sorta, but I'd still be tempted to give immortality a try ;)

Mrs. Photon...I like it! Regardless, even though Kimber seems to have tapped in to endless knowledge hanging out with 'Mrs. Photon' like this, she's probably receiving answers to things she wish never knew. All those perks like no illness sound great, considering Kimber has had to deal with cancer since the beginning of the story, but the trade off would be overpopulation I would imagine. :x

@jgib99: Well you won't have to wait long - next page!!
jgib99 at 2:42PM, Aug. 28, 2016
Oh heck, I say go for it Kimber!! Sounds like a sweet deal. What could go wrong? Great page!!
KimLuster at 7:06AM, Aug. 28, 2016
@plymayer: And I doubt it has an escape clause...!!
KimLuster at 7:04AM, Aug. 28, 2016
@Whirly: Don't trust beings who claim to see all time..!! Don't trust beings who actually can even less...!! :D
plymayer at 7:41PM, Aug. 27, 2016
The too good to be true offer.
Whirlwynd at 7:18PM, Aug. 27, 2016
I think Mrs. Photon and Marlin from Lady Unlucky would get along very well (Marlin is a similar type of being that can see the whole of time but is limited as to how he can change it) -- which makes me SUPER suspicious of her offer. Also I just noticed that nice cozy room phase in which is an intriguing change of atmosphere.

@Jerrie: I dunno... Neck snapping seems to solve a lot of problems :D... 'limited' immortality... yeah, it's like limited warranty... I'd wanna read the fine print...! ;)
KimLuster at 4:29PM, Aug. 27, 2016
@Banes: Thanks...!! It's makes you wonder... If It'd just shot straight from the beginning... but then, a being that didn't have a will, and suddenly experiences one... maybe it's a learning curve for it as well... Kimber Lee's decision is already made (I'm a few pages ahean) - I think you'll approve...!!
jerrie at 12:58PM, Aug. 27, 2016
limited-imortality? that needs to be explained further...does that mean she wont age...but can still be killed by other means?
jerrie at 12:47PM, Aug. 27, 2016
Dont merge with her! I dont trust her! Break her neck instead!(I know...I have issues...)
Banes at 12:13PM, Aug. 27, 2016
I like Kimber calling her Mrs. Photon. heh! It's nice to get some answers from the Mighty One at last...but it seems Kimber will now face a truly overwhelming decision! Beautiful art on this page, too!
KimLuster at 7:14PM, Aug. 26, 2016
@El Cid: Semi-mortality! Damn if you have it - damned if you don't! :D
KimLuster at 7:12PM, Aug. 26, 2016
@bravo: Philosophy? Impractical? My opinion is... Philosophers change the world...!! Whatever the general zeitgeist is, it's likely a philosopher first made the thought-pattern fashionable a couple generations earlier...!! If Icelanders (or anyone) have faith in themselves, it's because a critically-thinking person made it acceptable to do just that!! But it's a slow-moving thing, often taking generations for a new thought paradigm to spread... I'll agree that it's not very useful day-to-day, when you can't get out of the bed... or when you're hungry!
El Cid at 6:30PM, Aug. 26, 2016
I'm not sure which I'd trust less -- Mrs. Photon with semi-mortality or humans with semi-immortality!
bravo1102 at 4:43PM, Aug. 26, 2016
When asked "what do you have faith in?" Most people say "God " The majority of Icelandic people said themselves. And then how can one truly deny free will when he makes so many choices every day? And if you had true free will what would you do with it that you can't with the limits you have now? Philosophy is highly impractical. These debates aren't very useful to someone with major depression. Just why should I get out if bed in the morning? If I don't like a bit of my life how much freedom do I have to change it? It turns out you have as much as you let yourself have.
KimLuster at 3:38PM, Aug. 26, 2016
@Paul: Thanks! If I can outline it, it's because I have problems with everyone!! :D
KimLuster at 3:36PM, Aug. 26, 2016
@tupapayon: Me too - that video too... I read some of the comments of in it... People seem to miss something - it's not that actual 'physical observance' that causes a collapse... Rather, it seems to be when the 'information' is gathered... ie. when/if someone goes to look at the data... So if you have only a recording device doing the double slit experiment, and you go look at the data a week later... You will see the 'particle' effect, not the 'wave' one... How does observance affect the past? Well, the quantum world is timeless, ie, has no past! ;)
KimLuster at 3:02PM, Aug. 26, 2016
@Aubrey: Thank You - yeah she's a little.. transparent *snark* :)
PaulEberhardt at 9:28AM, Aug. 26, 2016
Clever thinking, Kimber. And now we know what God needs a spaceship for. XD Also you perfectly outlined the problem I've got with people that claim not to believe in anything - or rather the problem they've got with me, because I usually leave them be... Nice dress, by the way!
tupapayon at 7:21AM, Aug. 26, 2016
I find this very interesting... free will is just an illusion... and also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRSBaq3vAeY

Great page. :) Nice to see Ms Photon beginning to reveal her true motivations.
