If we're taking other alternate victories, might I recommend something as passionate as a giant drill charged from Drillman's weapon?

It could have been fun indeed. Unfortunately, I have already made the fight and the way he defeat the commander was needed for the rest of the story. But I keep the idea in mind. It could be fun to make it an alternate ending for a special.

Make Bass need to use the LEAF SHIELD to defeat him. Either because it's the commander's only real weakness (because Wily likes making it so that every robot has a weakness, and believes that nobody would take the offensive power of the leafshild seriously), or because Bass needs it for protection.
