Ha! Friseurdebakeltag! I love that! If I still worked for a German company I'd be trying to get all my colleagues to adopt it immediately!
For the record, men can have a "bad hair day" too, so that particular expression isn't especially demeaning to women. (Oh, and I've sent you a PQ explaining my previous remark!)
There IS no German equivalent to "bad hair day", I think. But I also assume it's very easy to explain (if I'm not horribly mistaken :P): Some days, your hair just won't look good, no matter what you do, and you'll be self-conscious and awkward all day, because you'll assume everyone's noticing it (even if they don't).
"Friseurdebakeltag". Never heard that.
It was, btw, "bad hair day" after which I modeled this expression.
I can see now that it can be read as demeaning, as it implies that females place an inappropriately high (or only an) emphasis on looks.
I realise I don't actually know what a bad hair day IS (no equivalent expression I'm aware of in German) - only that women are being referred to having one when not in good mood...

I think that the "bad paint" joke is like "bad hair day" rather than anything else relating to females. Don't try to read too much into it.

That's interesting. Why so?

I don't want to think too hard about that fembot jibe. Makes me feel quite queasy!

Abt: Yes, I'm making a difference!^^ Zeph: Thanks.

"Mad as a fembot on bad paint day" -- I'll make sure to add that to my own vocabulary.
