Well, this is what you get when your army consists largely of disgruntled citizens and few actual soldiers.
I'm sure we won't be seeing any of these guys again, though. No sir. That's got to be it, right?
Thanks for reading! See you next week!
EDIT:…so I forgot Marcus' speech bubble apologizing to Hawthorne in the final panel…whoops! Even though that dialogue isn't vital, it just looks weird without it, because I drew it with the intention that it'd be there…
…I'll try to remember to fix that. Sorry about that.

Pretty much! I never got into it enough in the comic, and that's my mistake, but the idea was always that this "army" was just sort of cobbled together from the people that Hawthorne could convince to join his cause. It's why they have a variety of weapons and few of them have any armor at all and those that do just sort of have scraps. An early idea was to actually have them armed with farm tools, but at that point it starts just becoming sad, so I decided not to, haha! That's why Agneris and the scouts say they aren't too scared of these people though, they don't actually pose much of a threat. ...but since it's not elaborated on in the comic itself, it's not actually part of the story.

And no one with bows. Bows or something like would have been a good idea. And all of these guys, aside from Hawthorne, seem very, very young.
