"civilitas successit barbarum"

Since Brian's been talking about movies, I'll continue that line of thinking.

Fantasy films have always been dependent in many ways on their soundtracks. From Conan the Barbarian (stirring and powerful) to Legend (exotic and otherworldly, at least the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. To me the Jerry Goldsmith version is a little too Disney for the film), and even Hawk the Slayer (cheesy medieval-disco), the music has summoned that extra bit of magic.

Za Frumi is a modern band whose fantasy / dark ambient works tell the story of their own mystic realm. Since much of it is seen through the eyes of a tribe of Orcs, there are even lyrics spoken in Orcish. Fortunately for those of us not fluent in the Black Speech, they kindly provide translations. Check out Za Shum Ushatar Uglakh, Tach, or Legends Act I.
