First I'd like everyone to ignore Maximum Something. It's a fun little project I do by myself, but I don't want to be judged by it. I want to do something serious, something meaningful. I have been for a long time, and have had a story line for quite some time as well.
After first coming up with my idea, I mulled it over for a while. As great of an idea as I thought it was, it didn't seem fit to be a story. I mean, I just felt it wouldn't have been given proper justice. As I was browsing through Drunkduck, I remembered this particular forum, and it hit me: it was meant to be a comic book.
Yeah yeah, it sounds dumb, but bear with me.
The tentative title is Soul Guide, and it's about psychopomps (which are, you guessed it, soul guides). Psychopomps are being whose job it is to retrieve and escort souls from this world to the next. Those with a fear/aversion/distaste for religious material worry not – I won't be dealing with theological questions, heaven or hell, etc. No one knows where humans go where they die, and neither do the psychopomps.
I'm not looking to pay someone for this. If all you want is money then I doubt we cannot be partners nor friends. I'm looking for someone who appreciates ars gratia artis – art for art's sake. This is merely a hobby, and I just want to enjoy myself.
Now I say I'm looking for a partner – while I will be chiefly the writer, I will not monopolize the subject. All input from my partner will be processed and, if suitable, included. Just as I would hope my partner would consult me when drawing a certain character, I will consult you as to which way you want the story to go, any particular ideas, etc. I do have a general lay out for how this will start, go, and eventually end, but everything can change.
(Note: I also say it's in the vein of Death Note because there is death, supernatural creatures, and at one point in the story I want a human to be able to obtain this power.)
Now a little bit on the story.
First, it is important to note that psychopomps have very little control over death. They are able to kill by removing the soul, yes, but their main job is to transport souls. They are NOT grim reapers, gods of death, angels of death, or angels period. They have no control as to where a spirit goes when it dies, and indeed do not even KNOW where the humans go when they die. It is centered around Seth (temporary name), a typically apathetic psychopomp interested in the ways of humanity. He usually follows his “charges” around before their assigned time of death, studying them, and will even from time to time warn them of their impending doom. Although the death can never be avoided, it eases his conscience somewhat. He ends up developing feelings for one such charge, a girl by the name of Naomi (again, name can be changed) who is set to die in approximately 2 years. Feeling a surge of human emotions, he begins questioning the morality of his job, and he yearns to be a true human, all while trying to deal with the fact that Naomi's death looms ever closer.

If this has interested absolutely anyone, then please, send me an email at bougragenie@yahoo.com, or perhaps contact me on AIM (Screenname: Slufa), or even send me a PQ over DrunkDuck. Forward me any questions, concerns, or tips, and I will get back to you rapidly, so never hesitate to contact me!. Thank you so much for reading this far, and I truly hope one of the talented artists in the DrunkDuck community can help me out.

Sincerely,
Pepe.
