Hi there! I'm new here. I registered just yesterday - although I've been lurking around the site for a while already. So, without further ado: enter ME! ;)
I'm 27 and a noob cartoonist. Oh, I used to draw LOTS back in junior highschool, had a little ongoing comic stip (which I never showed to anyone, in the end) and a bunch of short comic stories. But then, at some point, I gave up on drawing pretty much entirely. So you could say I'm practically a virgin again ;) Meanwhile, I went on to become a writer. This is what I've been doing for the past 10 years, with some success even. I thought I'd never go back to drawing. But a while ago a friend and I joked about making a comic about her - and I thought: why not try and draw one? :) So I did :)
I found Drunk Duck through a comic that debuted here: “Beaver & Steve”. While lurking around the comic's message board, I stumbled upon “Fin”, a comic hosted by DD. I followed the link, and while enjoying my stay here, I decided this is the place to go when I'm ready to go online with my comic. So here I am :)

I picked it at the strangest of times, too. Just as I finished my fourth novel, I went back to working out. While I write, I write non stop and can hardly focus on anything else. So for 7 months I haven't read a single book and lost about 10 lbs. As soon as I'm done writing, I usually make up for everything I missed. So it feels odd and funny to draw while I'm all sore from lifting weights, push-ups etc. :)

Well, you can certainly multi-task.

When I lose weight, I usually lose muscles, not fat. This is me somewhere at the beginning of writing my second novel.

I was skin and bones after finishing it 5 months later. And looked more or less like this:

Btw, Lynn, I wanted to read Your comic - but the index is obscuring half of the box, so I can't see anything. Is that just me or does everyone get that?

Hopefully, it's just you. Otherwise, I have some serious HTML/CSS to do and I'm not good at that kinda' crap. (I did look and looks okay to me…But thanks for the heads up…If you're havin' problems then others must be too, so I will get to work on it, bloody HTML and all.)

I dabble in novels…I have MANY started and do write between 1000 and 1500 words a day…But, I can't seem to actually finish any one project. I get between chapters 10-15 and get bored and move on to the next one…Oh, well…maybe someday. Are your's available? ISBN me in a PQ if they are.

It covers the right half of the whole comic panel, from top to bottom. Tried to move it - alas, to no avail. I'll try again on a different puter, maybe it'll be ok there. In case You're not sure, just ask people if they have the same problem. Maybe it's just my screen settings (800x600 - I don't like to strain my eyes with higher resolutions)

As far as writing is concerned, start writing something short to begin with. Once you manage to finish several stories, try something longer. This is the advice I've read here concerning comic stories - and this is also what I've learned myself. I had this book that I'd been writing for… 7 years - and I was nowhere near finishing it. So one day I just put it away, utterly bored and tired of it, and started writing something new that very day. I finished that one in a matter of weeks. Prior to that I wrote a bunch of short stories and a novella of about 100 book pages. So it's all about slow progress.

Yeah, doing things is always the hardest thing :) But that's how it is: it's all nice, coherent and ideal in our heads. Life… :) In any case, if You need advice or help, I'm here.

Oh and btw, I haven't published anything yet. Incidentally, I got my third rejection letter just this week. Oh well ;) No biggie! I will make it someday :) Also, I write in Polish first, so I only have the first one in English, too. But I have a couple of stories up on my myspace if You'd like to read :)
