The top one stands out more.

I'd say a combination of both would be nice. The real difference in each version is the line weights. Varied line weights are an important staple of any inking job.

it was kind of a wash, orlah. several week ago i discovered that if it isolated everything black in the picture and cloned it as a layer the effective result was an end to the digitally choppy lines that have been there before. a few days ago i discovered that if i don't raise them before i do the layer adjustment, the lines disappear. either process takes about thirty seconds before i start adding word balloons. there doesn't appear to be any middle ground though.

Uhh ... are those only two options or is "something between" possible?

Personally, I prefer the bottom one. Honestly, though, unless one is easier for you than the other, I don't really care. The story you're giving us is too interesting for me to care about such a minor change in art. I mean, there are comics out there where a change in art changes the story's tone, but the difference between these two isn't big enough to do that.

Top one. Picture is sharper. In the bottom they look faded out. You didn't run that one through the wash with hot water, did you?

Kind of like the first one better.
