I definitely like the new font. The text is a little bit crowded in the speech balloons imo, but everybody does theirs differently! The textures work fine here; you avoided overdoing it... and it seems a bit less manga-ish? Hard to tell from the one page. From the looks of it though, this does seem like an improvement.
