so I guess I sucked at my interview, if I am ever the right person…. I will be shocked…got the add and application for another similar job folded up in my bag… trying to decide if I should fill out the application or believe what everyone I interview with tells me I suck….. and would be no good at said job and should try to be something else….. but I don't know what that something else I should be is…..
Try asking for an Informational interview. tell them your not looking for a job and just would like to know more about the company and the process of what they do there-it could just lead to a job with out asking for one-Wright down a list of questions to ask and wright down want he/she answers. It puts you in control of the interview and you can follow up with a Resume later/
Don't get discouraged. I know that's easier to say than do, but it's true. I'm sorry you got a rude interviewer...they should remember that you're a person too. I've interviewed countless people and sometimes the decision is less about the person and more arbitrary. If you ever get the opportunity, feel free to ask the interviewer this question. Speaking from personal experience, sometimes I would like nothing better than to have this honest conversation outside of the interview. Just remember, we're all rooting for you!!
Aw´. it was very bad style of the job interviewer to be so rude to you. actually she could be fired for it. well i hope you get a new job interview soon.
Don't say you were bad at the interview! Just because you did not get picked this time is no reason to stop. A lot of the companies are looking for such a specific person that nearly everyone will not satisfy them. I or another of your readers can also help give advice if you want. We are here to help. :)
Don't take the interviewer's attitude personally. S/he may have interviewed the perfect candidate earlier in the day, and was just going through the motions in subsequent interviews (has to do it to show they're doing their job). I always hated that you didn't get feedback on how well (or poorly) you did in a job interview. But that's just the way it is.
Don't be discouraged about not getting a job after an interview. The average advertised job gets over 100 applicants, with about 30 people making it to the interview stage. So you'll have to go through about 30 interviews to get a job. And that's an average - half of job seekers will get a job with fewer interviews, half will need more than 30 interviews. And when the economy is bad, there are even more applicants for every job.
*hugs* I know exactly how you feel. It's horrible, especially when you see other people getting a job and wonder what you're doing wrong. STAY STRONG. If you start to despair, then you're a lot less likely to get through and land a solid job. Interviewers can pick up on that. It's hard, but just being reliable enough to show up every day is three quarters of the whole thing.
It was very rude of the interviewer to be sarcastic to you, she should have been able to see that you've been through some hard times and you're willing to work hard to get back on your feet again. I'd recommend to keep trying for the full time jobs, eventually you should get an interviewer who's not a jerk. You might also want to focus on getting that apartment, much easier to get clean and dressed up for interviews when you have your own shower etc.
Ugh, I chatted with my coworker and she said you probably won't be able to get a landlord to rent to you if you don't have a full-time job. :/ So keep making the full-time job your top priority. If there's any way you can figure out what you did at the interview that the interviewer didn't like, it might help for the next try.
I don't know how often you go to these interviews, but you have to keep pressing on. We just won a major victory in getting the loan sharks off your back, but there still is much left to do and we can't give up. We'll get you through this. If I had guess, I suspect that you'll get one of these types of jobs when you finally get an apartment and an address.
