Just tell them that no, you're not on anything, but rather see odd colors and stuff as the result of some jerk trying to kill you with a shovel years ago. Should help shut them up.
I also have light syntesthesia. And I also have a live inner child.
... And I have had trouble getting/keeping a job, tested for Asperger's (now called high-functioning autism, don't ask me why), and got disability after fighting for 7 years, and looking up what the law said versus what the agency was telling me -- guess what? They were not following the law, imposing arbitrary standards that would make it impossible to be considered disabled, etc.
Yea, just imagine -- if you can fill out the application form, then they consider you able to apply for and get a basic minimum-wage job, so you are not disabled.
Weird stuff in dreams is how some of the greatest scientific discoveries were made. Your brain goes into a heightened state of free association when dreaming, which can allow you to put together pieces you might not have been able to think of while awake.

Young at heart folks like you keep the world a more interesting fun place, Riley! It's a pity they can't see that and hassled you about it, their loss I say!
The folks who have digested their inner child certainly make things hard for the rest of us. Keep that sense of wonder and joy alive, it'll help get you through the bad times, even if most other people don't understand. I am glad that you enjoy music so much, it's a great way to learn about different people.
That's a great way to put it! May I borrow that? "Digested their inner child". Love it! Sounds like Riley's in 'uptightville', big time. I'm out in Calif, where they wouldn't even blink at any of that. (And a fair # of the management and civil employees would fail a drug test instantly..:) I've a pretty eclectic pile of music myself and very much agree it helps transport you to other, more interesting locales. Hang in there, Riley! Please keep your inner child alive and flourishing. I've been happier since I unleashed mine more! Stubat
If you do have synesthesia, you may be able to take advantage of it in a job or career. It is fairly rare, and can produce some rather unique talents. My sister has it and used it to help her career as a set designer. I never got the details from her, but I know another person who saw colors when she heard music used it to become a lighting coordinator. She designed the colors of the lighting effects at concerts to synchronize with the music that was playing at any given moment. Real easy for her since she literally saw different colors depending on what sounds were playing.
Sound and color synesthesia is also highly correlated with perfect pitch. You may have musical talent you're unaware of, as perfect pitch basically lets you easily recognize musical patterns as a kid that most people have to study for years to learn.

Do tell everyone what the dragon said. Just choose your forum better. Like, say, here for example. :-)

Yeah, my thought was: "Explained by a dragon in a dream? Estimated 50% likely to be 80% more intelligible than any book about it". WE MUST KNOW!

The video game Tempest came to the programmer in a dream. It was incredibly weird, and there haven't been any other games like it since.
