This elf seems to be proud and welcoming- in the father to son way, not the "better than thou" way like he's done much to see this moment come to fruition, if I am right he walks the grey area where the terms "traitor" and "patriot" intercept, and I mean the true definition of the word patriot- someone who fights for their country though their actions may be in spite of their government, and traitor being someone who betrays their country- as determined by their government.

@Katzen looks can be deceiving, especially when dealing with causes tied to civil rights, the underground railroad was a bunch of houses where the tenants would leave a subtly marked towel hanging outside, the mark would just look like a patch job to the casual observer, but to those escaping or assisting others to escape up north, it marked the path to freedom, this is not a cause that started with Omaha, people such as Spencer have been supporting and preparing from the beginning, in so doing undoubtedly made insurances that there would be friends with a degree of political power in every government, these are people who work largely behind the scenes, until they are needed they can't make obvious movements but they must know all there is to know, even the darker details, for they will be the ones to provide testimony to the public. You want lasting and significant change, you have to thread a few strings and do so carefully.
