SS6 69 Ron's Confession 7
skyangel on March 3, 2018
One thing I really, really love about doing comic art is that it's so like making your very own movie. You get to choose your characters, the settings and even the weather, and when everything is ready to start filming, you get to be the director too! Sending my finished line art across to Becky for colouring is like sending the film for developing, I know what I wanted to capture as far as atmosphere goes but I'm never sure what the finished page will look like until it comes back, and even after ten years I still get a thrill to know it's finished and waiting in Dropbox for me to collect. I'm never disappointed!
Sooooooooooo Has Ron changed his mind and strayed from the script or has he just lost the plot! Find out next week ! ;)

This is just horrifying, holding the kid over that pit like that. And Ron is for sure running this show...he's not "out of control" or "carried away with the situation". And she has to go home with this guy (if he doesn't kill her first). I cannot, despite what other readers may think, find anything "understandable" about his actions. Unforgivable.

Fred: I can't defend or excuse Ron for what he did on this day but I feel it creates an interesting situation, because as has been said before, generally the media casts people in good guy, bad guy roles but in real life when a normal fairly decent person commits a crime, we punish them and life goes one. So instead of having the bad guy go to prison or die in a massive showdown we will observe instead how his actions bring about their own punishment by the way it affects the people around him. Forgivable or unforgivable? is the key question. :)

Sometimes there's a 'tip' in the balance of art, when the work is shared between people. For me this page owes about 60% to the colourist. Not that the line art is shoddy, far from it ! ...this is where B&W comics don't really do it for me, unless the shading is so detailed, it may as well have been coloured in the first place !
skyangel at 1:32AM, March 8, 2018
Absolutely! It's the colouring that not only brings the page to life but also creates the atmosphere of it too and this comic has been blessed with two really talented colourists, first Emi and now Becky. My linework has become a lot more detailed since the early days too which obviously demands a great deal more time to colour so I'll always be indebted to the amount of time and devotion both girls have spent doing that for us.

p.s. so we know now why she was so spooked on those stairs !

Dear Sky, And so after ten years I still get a thrill with every new page. Thanks Sky and becky:) Ron belongs in jail! What really gets me is how it takes 3 male thugs to scare 1 teenage girl, what cowards. It would be nice if someone in Hollywood made you an offer for the film rights. Who would play Sarah and Janey? tommym
skyangel at 2:05AM, March 8, 2018
Tommym: Thanks :) And yea, three guys, absolutely! Part of me wanted to tone things down a bit and even have Ron detached from the crime itself but I also knew that to be really afraid of ever trying to contact Lucy again, it would have to be something pretty extreme, and she also had to be very aware that it was Ron who was behind it too. If Hollywood made a movie of this I'm sure I'd be disappointed anyway as I'm way too picky! lol ;)

You've really hit this one!! This would be one hella-riveting movie scene!! I'm not as suspenseful since I know she's actually still alive, but I just know something's gonna go really wrong here!! Excellent!!
skyangel at 1:57AM, March 8, 2018
Kim: Thanks. Yea, I kinda killed it by showing her alive didn't I! I can just imagine that in a movie they would cut that original view of her out and with hindsight maybe I should have too but it's done now :)
moizmad at 1:26PM, March 3, 2018
He's just trying to scare her...right? Surely he won't actually do this?
skyangel at 1:55AM, March 8, 2018
Mo: That's what he claims ;)

Really great comment, Sky! It's so true, it is like making your own movie - and it's thrilling :) Ron is looking like a real thug right now... I hope they didn't drop her by mistake and then he had to dig her out of there!
skyangel at 1:54AM, March 8, 2018
IB: I've often wondered how possible that would be. Some of these bore holes can go up to 60' or more. I read a real incident about a workman who accidentally stumbled into one and died before they could get him out so they are pretty scary things.
Emevsa at 12:10PM, March 3, 2018
Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh no this is not good at all! Ron! Come back to the light Ron!
skyangel at 1:50AM, March 8, 2018
Emevsa: If Lucy could see him now! ;)
