I could see that. Mine is a rough wooden box with a cheap bathroom lamp in it and a loose plate of plexiglas on top. Very functional but not exactly a looker, plus it keeps getting in the way when I don't happen to need it.

mine *used to be* an antique hide-away sewing machine table, but i scrapped the sewing machine and just covered the hole with plexiglass to transform it into a light table. :-)

It actually looks quite professional to me. I built myself a small portable light table a few years ago, and while it has proved to be a very useful tool it looks rather primitive compared to yours.
