Welles was referencing propaganda spouting by both Imperial Germany and Nazi Germany about why they didn't take the Swiss all too seriously. The truth? It was a safe place to keep your money and the Swiss army was all perfect shots.
In the Third Man Orson Welles wrote and delivers a speech at a fairground called the Cuckoo Clock speech, which ignores the storied military history of the Swiss, and wrongly assigns them the invention of the Cuckoo Clock (it was the Germans who gave us that). So this was my parody of that scene ... which is at least one step more accurate than Orson was :-)
I love all the uniforms Bravo. Those are so cool!
The mercenary aside was pretty good too. The last panel was masterfully realised! Complicated concept!
When in Paris the Michelin's Guide is essential in the selection of the finest restaurants. This page allowed me to indulge in my love of history with the French Revolution tableaux and the Swiss guardsmen eating fondue. Switzerland bought peace by becoming a nation of soldiers and hiring themselves out to other nations.

Poor Swiss. No recognition for that war effort. :(
