When Tara sees what's left of her home solar system, she's left feeling empty…and a little bit sick. And even as she's echoing her own words from A Deviant Mind #1: “I can't go back”, she's still trying to come to terms with the possibility she might truly have done this. Those words may hint at an emotion-filled incident from an earlier time she no longer remembers, but presently they only goad her onward.
Sometimes the simplest solution IS to turn back…but we're not always built that way, are we?

Some physics comments: 1) A dwarf star is unlikely to go nova. If it does, there is not enough mass to form a black hole. 2) A nova will not demolish planets, although close ones may be vaporized. 3) Even if a black hole formed, the gravity would be no higher than the original sun mass - only be from a more concentrated source. 4) Any planet not vaporized would continue in orbit - unless the sun lost enough mass in the nova explosion that the gravitational attraction was greatly lessened. In that case, the planet might escape the system.

Exactly. See, they haven't left the outpost yet: the blond dude pulled this up on his ship's computer instead of listening to her and just jaunting on out there and risking life and limb on some wild goose chase.

Don't fly through those jets, either. The radiation is intense enough to endanger life on planets light years away if they are unlucky enough to be in the path.

Notice how, shell shocked she may be, she still is maintaining control of the crew. "We'll go from there" These guys got a pot load of trouble they do not want.

Being sucked by a giant black hole sure is not an happy perspective for a future...

And you should see how much time travel incursions drive up insurance! A spacer just can't get a break these days... XD

@Jamie59: I pulled that image off of Google...there are numerous depictions of black holes, but yes, this one looks like it's feeding off the space dust and debris of the annihilated planets that once circled it. :D @skewered_viewpoint: Eeeewwwww.... just for that pun I oughta toss you in. ;)

(Glides out of the shadowed corner) Well, I guess you could say that vacationing on Attalla 5 REALLY sucks! (Glides back into the shadowed corner)

Interesting drawing of a Black Hole looks like it's feeding.
