A few issues back, on the flashback of that incident, when Anai and Akar were considering buying Xiu, Najimi chipped in and said, "She's sick and useless! I can do the job for you." This was to buy as much time as possible until the doctors could arrive. Would a slave master sell a sick and injured slave? Yes, it happened. I've dealt with dog breeders who pull the same crap. But overall, no, this wasn't much of a choice. Had there been, things would have gone differently, and Tara might never had found Najimi at all.

Sounds like it wasn't her choice anyway.
