As long as it was just MOSTLY genocided it would mean that the remaining pooka have now chance for better life. Not good outcome, but still worth it. It's not like they would get more survivors if they would wait or something.

So after all that, the war, fighting to have the pooka recognized ... they were mostly genocided anyways? ... The sad thing is, I can really see humans doing that. Claiming that it was the corportation, not the person, doing it and the people are not to blame ... tie that up in court for years and hope the other guys run out of money (if a civil suit) or just plain change of administration (if criminal ... see Microsoft).
