Interesting how one cursed for their own actions becomes a danger to others. In a more fair world, would just serve as a warning against evil actions.

Different ways to look at it. And I'm not familiar with this story, but I'd be surprised if there aren't different regional versions of it. I find such things interesting, how some cultures myths are very clearly warnings and guides towards proper behavior, and others are just 'here's a thing that happened'.

Its a odd story.. in some version he kills tne father for being abusive.. but most have him killing and eatting the father for no real reason.. just being selfish. As a demon he mostly hunts drunk men.. so maybe its a don't get drunk warning..

Might be quite logical unintended consequence of trying to make it a long-term warning - meaning, it got stronger the longer it was cursed.
