The again if it's working fine except for the power supply, that might be something a repairman can fix, but I don't know how much it would cost.

I've been doing a little searching, seems like there are some decent new laptops in the $500 range but I can't find any with DVD players installed. Like this one: https://www.costco.com/dell-inspiron-15.6%22-laptop---11th-generation-intel-core-i5-1135g7-processor---1080p---windows-11.product.100809537.html. You might need an external DVD or BluRay drive to watch movies on your laptop going forward.

give her back? that is not how grandmas work... hold on to baby while berating you for not letting them see the kid more, even though you just visited last week while simultaneously berating you that she isn't free baby sitting and refusing to watch the kid while you and the other parent have dinner....
