I have to wonder, what exactly did they get through reparations? I mean even without the question of pardons which really upended reparations to newly freed people during reconstruction, its a sticky situation as the chief offenders were private citizens, obviously at least some of the old cities were returned. The property and profits of the farmers, trappers and butchers should go towards reparations, but that's messy, and not terribly useful as is,

It was going to be messy regardless in my opinion. As part of reparations entire businesses would have been shut down, putting tons of people out of work. Their sources of income seized and given to what they deem animals. It’s no wonder that the colony cities are all armed. I’m sure there are plenty of out of work people looking to attack them

I wonder, long ago, Wheels extended an offer of assistance to Lan, and didn't, and couldn't accept it, not at the time, the Fae needed to believe their own strength, otherwise they'd be timid in future dealings, even if free, the Institute could have handled it easily, even with the policy to avoid leveraging an oppressive tech advantage, but that wouldn't get them the spirit needed to stand up for themselves, making it far too easy for them to be exploited in other ways, and likely resulting in them getting significantly less out of reparations, that'd they'd desperately need to get established.

I was thinking what has lan been doing all alone.. with nothing to fight or do.... just hanging out with mango in a motel... watching tv...Lan is suffering from depression.. and mango is just fixating on anything or behavior that puts a little life back into her zaza..so she spots a bald guy.. bald equals p ard. Zaza likes that show.. Must yell look.. cus I want my zaza to be happy..
