As I understand the Highwind Family are a part of the Northwind Clan. It’s semantics but it helps differentiate when talking about them. The Fiveclaw Clan doesn’t seem to have differentiated their families like the Northwind Clan. Seeing as they all go by Fiveclaw. It seems the Sea Clan is looking to start a Pooka farm and is hoping the marriage will let them use Northwind land to do it. Which means they’ll be ground zero if a clan war breaks out. The Sea Clan can easily take to their ships and flee, leaving the Northwind Clan holding the bag.

didn't realize Jess's brother knew sign. I get the feeling Hawk overheard what Sky already suspected. Hawk can sign what he overheard, that can be relayed to Sky, and then there can be an announcement forcing the clans present to either pick sides or commit to neutrality. Without Windy as collateral, the Highwind clan has the option to review their decision in light of "new" information. Most clans will probably be neutral, others due to principle, or desire for better relations with clan Fiveclaw or the Fae, will back Fiveclaw,
